Thank you Pete, best birthday in a long time. Although I can't really say much in public. But think family, food. Lovely.

Edited because spelling and typing are both up the creek this morning.

International Bacon Day, September 2

Before I even knew of this, I had two short rashers of tasty streaky bacon sizzling away for part of my breakfast.

Our dear friend WW would be most disappointed if I didn't pop in at this point with an Opinion. [Big Grin]

IMHO, streaky bacon (which sadly is the norm around these parts) is only fit for covering roasting chickens to stop the breast-meat drying out, or as the basis for bacon, lentil and tomato soup.

While we were home, we scoffed as much Proper Bacon™ as we could get our hands on.

Indeed - very few of us will forget where we were or what we were doing when we heard about the Twin Towers.

May those who were killed rest in peace and rise in glory.

I'd like to ask Shipmates to join Mrs TonyK and me in celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary on Saturday 23rd September.

I'd buy all of you a drink, but technology (and my bank balance!) preclude this option - but should you be indulging in alcoholic (or other) liquor on this day, please remember us...

How wonderful! Best wishes to you both from Sydney and I will join you later on. Breakfast has just passed, so a bit early, but a G&T later this afternoon in heat will be welcome.

Many congratulations! I just had a glass of wine in your honour, which I think qualifies given that it's Saturday in the UK.

I'd like to mark the 100th birthday of Dr. Francis Jackson, organist-emeritus of York Minster, composer and gentleman.

I suppose I'll have to leave him off my Celebrity Death Pool list now ... [Big Grin]

We mentioned Francis Jackson's centenary in church on Sunday. We were singing one of his tunes, and my husband, the organist, refused to start playing till I remembered to announce it!

Today is the thirtieth anniversary of my husband's death. He died from the result of a freak accident. Our daughters were teenagers at the time.

Life goes on and you go with it. I enjoy life, but when I see elderly couples together, I think how lucky they are.
