Prayers sought please for my colleague P and her family. We got into work today to find a message from her saying that her partner had had a brain haemorrhage over the weekend and they were turning off the life support machine today.
Another colleague, S, is currently having palliative radiotherapy for brain mets, having previously been in remission.
We're very sad.

No word yet on Billy's condition; although his friends tell us that his color is better after his transfusion. Rob's leg surgery is happening right now; we found out that a couple of his surgeons work for LA professional sports teams, which made us feel better about his level of care. But money is going to be a big factor in both families. Billy and Brian were actually in the process of building a home -- that project has ground to a halt -- and Rob and his family live in a walk-up apartment that he can barely get into/out of with his cast.
Please pray for the moms -- we are so exhausted right now and every time the phone rings we steel ourselves for more bad news.:-(

Prayer is requested for young P, in his mid-20s, married just barely two years. He is in hospice care with untreatable tumours in his brain and spine. His eyesight is almost gone and his memory is failing fast. Very little time left probably here. Prayers for his wife and all the family too.

Billy's condition has remained the same overnight...the doctors want to try dialysis to get toxins out of his system, but he's too fragile for that process right now. No one is giving us any kind of diagnosis...and his family is one of those old-school Southern families where everything is expressed in euphemisms, so I'm not sure that our son Brian is going to actually hear medical terminology that makes sense to us.
Rob is home and resting and seems to be more at peace now that he has a proper cast on his leg, although it still hurts a lot; we moms and dads are pooling our resources to get someone into the home a couple days a week to do light housekeeping and just be an adult presence while Rob's wife is out working.
DP, who has COPD, has been fighting a bad case of bronchitis through all this...I've been reading some alt.med ways to help manage this disease, and last night we were talking about things like yoga breathing and aromatherapy and daily walks to help strengthen her lungs.
Praying for any kind of good news for Billy and Brian; praying for some way to ease the economic burden on Rob and Carrie; praying that DP, who is feeling VERY depressed this morning, cares for herself while trying to care for the boys.

I am feeling really sad today. I took my little cat to the vet today as she has lost a lost of weight - 1/3 of her total weight altogether. The vet has given her a pretty poor prognosis and wants her back in for bloods and x-rays tomorrow. he suspects something is seriously wrong with her, but doesn't know what yet - he has listed stuff like diabetes, renal failure and cancer.
I have already decided that if it is worse case scenario we won't go for aggressive treatment as she is old. It would be cruel to put her through such treatment when she is unlikely to survive.
I know it is just a cat, but she has been a huge source of comfort over the years, especially when I was feeling very, very sad.
I will be devastated when she goes

For Doc Tor's friend S's Dad, may he rest in peace, and for S's dad's family
For LutheranChik's Billy and for all undergoing dialysis, & for Rob, for healing for his leg and for Billy's mom and Rob's mom
For Chamois' J, may he rest in peace, and for all who are grieving
For St Gwladys' glasses to show up. (Ah, St. Gwladys -- i've had problems with misplacing/losing things all my life -- i totally emphathise!)
For Jack the Lass' P's partner, for P and for P's family and for S
For Ferijen's mum's hospital roomate and for her daughter
For those who dread hearing the phone ring (that sort of includes me, i'm waiting for news from my doc)
For LutheranChik's B DP, and for all with COPD
For Auntie Doris' beloved companion -- not "just" a cat, Auntie D, that's family! As one who's been in your situation more than once, my heart goes out to you. Source of comfort, I know it's so true! May your companion's situation not be as bad as feared, and in any case may all her days be happy and comfortable.
For NE Quine's friend J -- may the surgery go well today.
For a shipmate with whom i have been corresponding via PM, that her 11-year old canine companion does well in his surgery this week and has a comfortable life
For me that what is in me may be sufficiently stifled that i can look forward to having some productive and creative future yet. I don't want to know the exact numerical odds of success, but I pray for something that's more that just a wild goose chase. That whatever news I hear from my oncologist in the next day or so may point the way to this. I pray that the reason he has not called yet is not because he can't find any treatment that's that offers hope. (But that I will keep my hope in God no matter what he says) That my spirit may be right with God.

please pray for the people of Kobuk, Noatak, And Nome. They're having frigid temperatures and running out of fuel for heat. an ice breaker is trying to get to them, but the ice is very thick. in Kobuk, heating oil prices have hit $10 a gallon. they're all on the brink of a pretty horrible emergency.

We're praying that Billy's platelet count reaches 50,000 so that he can begin dialysis...he looks, in my son's words, like a Macy's parade float, and needs to lose all that edema. The last platelet treatment seemed to help somewhat so they're going to administer some more this morning. Our DiL's best friend, an MD, is telling us not to become disheartened; that this is not an unexpected symptom, and that the doctors are responding in standard ways.
DP is holding up OK, but we did have a little mutual cry this morning so we can Get On With It for the rest of the day.

For Comet and her neighbours in Alaska. May everyone quickly get the heating fuel they need.
Yam-uk, may the driving angels be with you next round (I believe UK drivers tests are more difficult than those in the US -- Try to have the smallest car possible -- it helps in the parking part. The last time I failed the test i was driving a van and flunked the parking. The tester said I should come back in a smaller car -- i did, and passed)
I've getten word on a drug that my doc is interested. I have asymptomatic hepatitis C and that may or may not be a problem. Also i got a couple of other positive informational glimmers.

Short updates: Son-in-law is responding well to dialysis, and friends and family were finally able to rest...no one is talking diagnoses with us, but no one told us about his being ill in the first place, so we're not pushing the issue; just steeling ourselves for what we think is the inevitable, and for helping our son deal with anxiety about his own health and with the practicalities of caring for a sick partner.
Son #2 had a successful surgery; was in some intense pain, but they changed his medication and he's feeling much better. We were also really heartened to see his cousin and in-laws all stepping up to spend week-long stints with the family for the next six weeks, while Son is still pretty helpless. Meanwhile we are pooling resources with his dad to help with babysitting and light housekeeping that our son had been doing himself.
DP has an appointment with a pulmonologist next week; I'm reading up on complementary medicine related to COPD to see what kinds of lifestyle changes we can make that will maximize DP's health and wellbeing. (We are studiously avoiding talking too much about this with one another, using our kids' respective crises as a dodge.)
Thank you for keeping us all in your prayers. It makes a difference; it really does.
