Please of your charity pray for B and M, who will become Master S's parents-in-law at the end of October. B - although only in his early sixties - has dementia, and as if that were not enough, also has blood cancer. They have just been told that nothing but palliative treatments can be given him and he has months to live - he *should* make the wedding but may not see Christmas.
I know that this may be a mercy, but it is very hard for M to see it that way, or indeed for all B's many friends and relations, including Master S. Please pray for peace for M, and blissful unawareness for B, or indeed as the Spirit moves you.
Could you also pray for L, second wife of our best man. 10 years ago she survived brain surgery on a non-malignant tumour, but now needs daily radiotherapy for a month to arrest its regrowth. Please pray for successful treatment without undue fatigue.
Thank you all so much ![[Votive]](graemlins/votive.gif)

also for L, that the radiotherapy will be effective and not too tiring.

A friend is really struggling with a stress-related illness.
A young-ish relative with kids has been told their illness is terminal.
Another relative does his best to frustrate the relationship his aged wife can have with her grandchildren.
Please pray we do what we're meant to do, when there is nothing to be done.

My friend Richard died yesterday. He and his wife Gael became friends with my parents when I was around 10, and they became our closest non-family friends.
They were swans in a duck pond in our rural-ish town in the 1970s. Richard was working on his PhD in computer science, and Gael had a collection of Masters degrees, mostly in languages and linguistics. They had spent the previous 10 years in France. My dad met Richard at the Royal Society, where Dad was the local secretary, and it was a friendship that spread out over both our families, adding a high degree of intellect to our lives, and a lot of music to theirs. We spent every Christmas morning and New Year's Eve together, went on holidays together, and celebrated every birthday. We also went to the same Anglican church, and all us kids sang in the choir. One thing we didn't share - he was an ardent Harrier all his life until he was diagnosed with leukemia a few years ago.
More recently, Richard was ordained an Anglican priest, and took his work as chaplain to seafarers very seriously, while still consulting on business process evaluation for the Government. While he was considerably more conservative than I am, he and I could talk about almost anything. He celebrated my mum's funeral, not quite a year ago, supporting me and my brother. He and Gael were the last people Mum was able to interact with - she waved them goodbye a couple of days before she died.
Fortunately, Rosie and I had seen him and Gael very recently, when we called in on a visit to my home city. He was looking well, so it was a horrible surprise to hear from Gael this morning.
My prayers for the wonderful and varied life of Richard, for his wife of 50 years, Gael, and his sons Andrew, Michael and Paul and their families.
