Bishop's Finger has been in my thoughts too. He had had to move on from the church he'd devoted so much time and energy to in the last few weeks he was posting as he could no longer drive there.

Prayers would be appreciated:
[Votive] for Ma Mad Cat, who will begin radiotherapy on the tumour in her lung on 15 September;
[Votive] for Pa Mad Cat who will be doing the driving to and fro, worrying silently while providing appropriately black humour (*);
[Votive] for C at work whose sister has been diagnosed with bowel cancer;
[Votive] for S at work who has been drinking the government Kool Aid and has decided that the study of English is an expensive luxury that no sensible student would dream of pursuing.(**)

* Ma MC: That's me for the knacker's yard then. Pa MC: Oh no! I haven't had my tea yet!
** Yes, we are English teachers. S's boy is an engineer and doing very well. Being an engineer is great, as long as one is cut out to be an engineer. Pa MC always says: there's more to life than earning money.

[Votive] Reading through and praying.

Could I ask for prayers for the family and friends of J whose funeral was yesterday.

Also my Aunt S who is extremely ill at the moment. She had breast cancer last year but has had clear checks since. It's looking increasingly like it's it back.

Mrs Sioni goes into hospital tomorrow first thing to have her foot done. She should be out in the evening, with her foot and lower leg in a cast for about six weeks then in a plastic boot for another six weeks.

Prayers for her and me too, as I have to keep house!

My last job before retraining was rewriting engineers' project copy for the company website. They made sure the big pointy thing didn't fall down, but, God love them, they couldn't write for s***!!

Many thanks to all those who have been enquiring after me! I thought I'd posted here a while ago, but clearly my memory is at fault.....

Briefly, I had a large tumour (a meningioma) completely removed on 4th May. It was non-malignant, but I suffered several nasty seizures after the op, and was in hospital for about a month. I've more or less had to relearn how to walk properly, and how to use my left hand, and I still have some minor mobility problems. At least I'm now able to walk to my local church, though my own is still out of reach (and there are other issues involving the priest-in-charge which mean I'm better off keeping away).

[Votive] for those on this thread, especially those like 5th Mary who are uncertain as to what's wrong with them.

Bishop's Finger, I will hold you in the Light if God's healing love as you recover.

Meanwhile, I am waiting to receive the results if a CT scan for a lump in.my neck. A biopsy ruled out the lymph nodes. An ultrasound was inconclusive.

I have tried not to google this, and given the number of suggestions I'm receiving from friends, I don't need to google. One well meaning person even floated the idea that it is a parasite found in bear meat!!

It has been a sad couple of days and I ask for your prayers.

On Wednesday, J, my mother's only remaining sister died. My aunt's husband had just died within this past month.
Yesterday, M, my cousin's daughter died after a long illness.
Yesterday, B, a very beloved colleague in the music association I belong to died after a long illness.

This is the part of the getting older thing that I really don't like. At all.
