Early this morning I had a scarily realistic dream about something that's been worrying me a lot recently. I'm really hoping it's just a dream that's being caused by some of the stuff that's been in the headlines the past few weeks and not some ominous portent of something that's about to happen, and I feel a little silly to be so shaken by a dream, but I am.

Please pray for J, a retired minister in our Methodist circuit. He has a shadow on his lung and also a small lump on his head, both of which need investigation. Having had cancer before, he and his wife fear the worst.

My father has just been taken to hospital in considerable pain, with a blocked catheter.
He wouldn't need the catheter if he could have a simple operation to reduce the size of his prostate, but he is on blood-thinning drugs which means that the prostate operation carries extra risks.
However, there are also risks associated with taking him off the blood-thinners whilst he's getting chemotherapy.
But stopping the chemo, in order to cut out the blood thinners and get his prostate op carries risks too.
Please pray that 1) the next test result (due this week) shows that he is in remission (currently predicted that he'll go into remission Jan/Feb, so not too big an ask, please God?) 2) that his baseline health bounces back quickly, and he's well enough for the prostate op ASAP.
And prayers of thanks for the NHS, doctors, nurses and pharmacists involved in his care.

Upholding, please, for my friend J in Manchester. She has MS and to add to her woes fell last week and has fractured a her sacrum. Apparently it hurts a bit but she views things like this as a challenge. Her partner is being as splendid as ever but still...

Prayers please. I'm going in for a second cataract operation today. With the first eye I had done I can read the smallest print on the eye chart whereas my old eye can't even read the top E, however, I'm used to my myopic bubble and good close vision, and am loathe to exchange it for clarity at a distance and blurriness up close. I should have done my homework on it, though I suspect that any lenses other than standard issue would have cost too much for me. The first operation didn't go smoothly (though the result was okay) and I don't imagine I could bear to have the first lens swapped, so I'm locked in now with just a few hours to go. A word of advice to anyone having cataracts done, do investigate it thoroughly first, and note to self, don't be such a procrastinator and don't let the bitter root grow.

I was born with congenital cataracts and had surgery (the first lot 35 years ago ) which I found very beneficial, and my mother-in-law had adult cataracts done about 20 years ago, also with very good results. I hope yours goes as well, SS

Eye op seems to have gone okay. It certainly wasn't as difficult as the first one. When I arrived, I voiced my concerns and was able to determine that although not many people opt for it, it is possible to have one eye set for distance and one for close up - and it didn't cost extra, so that's what I chose. Time will tell whether it works for me but at least I'm giving it a go and hopefully won't need reading or distance glasses. Blessings on all who work in health areas and all who need prayers.

For me: have been dealing with some very stressful matters for much of the year. Hard on me in many ways. Bureaucrats have the situation totally upside down. Helpers are very busy, and don't seem to understand, either. May everyone involved clearly understand the situation, and who *really* didn't do what they were supposed to do, and now do the right thing, and be merciful to me. And may I be upheld and strengthened in all ways.
Thx.
