I just learned that a dear friend from college died. We'd lost touch- during my divorce she felt she had to chose sides and I lost. She was so loving and giving, and only 40. She'd battled lupus for years, and our mutual friend just told me it killed her. I didnt realize it could be fatal. I should have fought to stay in touch. She was a good woman.

Please pray for the repose of June, and for her young children. They must be in so much pain.

for Comet's June -- may she rest in peace -- and for June's children, for comet and for all who are grieving. And for all who die too young.

for Starbug's M and family -- may their mother rest in peace -- and may the funeral and its arrangements be as stress-free as possible, and for R in R's time of grief

That Nicolmrw's brother T will soon be employed in a good job

for improved health for jedijdy's friend P

for success for Telepath in all her projects, job-wise and personal, and for the Telemum

for Ye led Motherboard's bible teacher and family and her lass members

for Mr. Lamb, for Lamb Chopped's mother and for Lamb Chopped

For every one here and for every need.

(copied from Praise & Thanks thread) I give thanks that yesterday's visit to the doctor treating my melanoma went well. The MRI results showed my liver remains clean!!! [Yipee] And my melanoma treatment will not be affected by any treatment for my newly discovered prostate cancer (generally a much less iffy thing than melanoma). And i heard some good things related to choices in dealing with the prostate thing that have me feeling more confident about that. And I feel very healthy.

Right this minute I'm sitting in the exam room waiting to talk to my urologist about what the options are in dealing with the prostate cancer. There are many possible options. While he is very competent i still have concerns about how sensitive my urologist is about my concerns outside the most narrowly medical. Though I could be wrong (having mild Asperger Syndrome I may not correctly interpret unverbalised body language cues). And I really want a second opinion. Please God may I find the best source for a second opinion, and please God, may I make the best choices.

Glad to hear of your results, malik.

I would be grateful for a bit of upholding tonight as I have to attend a committee meeting which will be chaired by someone who seems to have as a role model Livia from "I, Claudius" and runs things as if a poster on the Hell board. I have only been an observer so far. (I cannot understand what goes on in the minds of such people - it can't be a nice place to live.)

Great news Malik.

Praying for all who post. Can I ask for prayers for my mother in law who is ahving a minor operation tomorrow. She's very nervous, and although everything should go well she is 85 and not as robust as she once was.

I'll try to avoid TMI [Smile] but bowel cancer nine years ago resulted in my having Alternative Plumbing courtesy of the NHS. In the last couple of weeks a small hard lump has appeared on my stoma, and I need to take it to my GP, who is likely to send me straight off to a specialist.

Please join me in praying that it is nothing nasty.

For Brothermr.

For Starbug's M and his siblings.

For the repose of comet's June, and for her young children to be comforted.

For Ye Olde Motherboarde's bible teacher.

For the Chopped family.

For malik3000, melanoma be gone! (Also prostate cancer, begone with little or no damage.) For guidance for malice.

For Penny S to hold her own against Livia.

I need for God's Wisdom to guide me.

I really need guidance and discernment and communication skills as pertains to the medical specialist who is dealing with my prostate cancer. I believe that he is an impressively excellent physician of the first order on a purely physiological level. He has laid out for me my several treatment options in a concise and understandable manner.

However i cannot escape the strong feeling that he lacks sensitivity to my concerns, and that he jumps to unwarranted conclusions about my attitude and seemingly belittles my concerns. It is to the point that I get the feeling that he thinks that I, by having these concerns, am somehow in a bit of denial about the importance of my condition, which is emphatically not the case. If he is implying this i feel that is a insulting as well as insensitive. But i don't know for sure.

Being able to have a positive attitude (thanks be to God!) has blessedly helped me as I go through my medical adventures. As I am interpreting it (and i could be wrong) his attitudes seem to run counter to this. Yes i am sure there are other equivalently skilled specialists out there -- and one of my prayers is that i am able to find such a person from whom to get a 2nd opinion and then make the wisest choice(s). But even if i can (or should) switch specialists, i really would like to be able to intelligently communicate with my current specialist.

Am i understanding the situation correctly? Can he understand and respect my concerns? Can he can understand that has no grounds to think that by having my concerns i am in a state of denial about the reality of my medical condition? I do very much respect his clinical skills.

What has helped me so far in my medical adventures has not been being in a state of denial. Rather being able to maintain a realistically positive perspective is vital.

Please pray wisdom for me, I need to give a person a reference. I know and like both the person and the person I am referencing. I am also aware of some major clashes and some major good things.

How I spin it, and whatever I say will have spin could either get a strong no or a strong yes.

The meeting turned out not to be a problem in its doing, everyone being nice. But things had been done behind the scenes that could be questionable, not in right ordering. People appointed without election or approval by the properly appointed committee. Things will be better organised - rather like the trains running on time in Italy, maybe.

It will be interesting to see how things develop. I won't be so panicky next time.

Thanks for the upholding.

Praying for all here, and those who need prayers and can't tell us. [Votive]

I just had a phone call from a church friend that another church friend has had a heavy piece of equipment fall on her at work. She is seriously injured and has been airlifted to a hospital. Please pray for J and her family. [Votive]

Also a waitress asked our church staff to pray for her pregnant daughter who is having a problem eating and drinking water. [Votive] For the daughter and wee granddaughter.

Thanks everyone!

Praying for all by name. [Votive] And, Thank You, Lord, for all Your answers to our prayers.

Malik3000, could you take a friend with you to your next appointment, to act as a witness and confirm or deny your suspicions? You could tell the specialist you just need some moral support (which would also demonstrate him that you really are concerned about your condition).

Please pray for M and family, whose mother's funeral is today. Also, i think I might be job-hunting very soon, so need discernment about what to apply for. Thank you.

Tonight, my beloved bible teacher went home together after a short fight with cancer. She was a fighter to the end.
I am happy that the pain is over, but sad I won't see her anymore. [Tear]

Be it as it may: Wesley J will stay. --- Euthanasia, that sounds good. An alpine neutral neighbourhood. Then back to Britain, all dressed in wood. Things were gonna get worse. (John Cooper Clarke)

Please pray for Z that her quest for a real job this week and most importantly that the interview after school yesterday was successful!

Also, prayers needed for two old ladies with cancer in our TOPS weight-loss group. One is having chemo and the older one is having surgery next week. She's lived through oncological surgery before!

Thank you for remembering a friend with pets who was struggling to find rented accommodation. She managed to get a shortlist of 5 places to see and has just signed a lease to take one of them, so is feeling much more settled.

For all on here, and for those feeling unsettled, anxious, or worried about the future. [Votive]

Praying for each by name.

I have no end of work to do before the funding runs out, Boss thinks that adding another subproject will be the best pitch for getting more funding, but I need wisdom and discernment about how to spend my time next week and how to set expectations. I also have to get some kind of journal paper ready or bust.

Regardless of when I finish this post I want to finish it with both personal and project success. This is the Institute of I Don't Want To Screw This Up In Any Way, Shape or Form.

One way lies riches (well a modest income), fame (well another journal paper) and happiness (well except for the part where I'm sitting here on a Saturday night worrying about this). The other way lies failure and disaster (well a damp squib of mediocrity and an inadequate publication record). I just don't know how to please everybody. I'm just one person with human limitations, bound to Euclidean space time like everyone else.

--------------------
Take emptiness and lying speech far from me, and do not give me poverty or wealth. Give me a living sufficient for me.
